Singapore Food, Alcohol and Restaurants

If you are a food lover then Singapore is the place to be. There are many options available for people who prefer various types of cuisines. Chinese, Malay, and Indian are the three most common types of food which represent Singapore’s cuisine, although Italian, American, French, and German add there own flavor to the cuisine of Singapore. When in Singapore one can find a wide variety of pricing, from the economical food stands to the first-class fine dining 5 star hotels.

Hawker Centres
In Singapore hawker centers are one of the most widely visited places. Newton Food Centre and Lau Pa Sat being the two most visited hawker centers as they are very economical. These places sell mouth watering dishes which are not that expensive i.e range between $2-5.

National Food

As Singapore is located near several water routes, seafood dishes are very popular here. You can find Lobster, fish, crab, oysters, and stingray commonly used in the cuisine. Most popular seafood dishes include oyster omelets, black pepper crab, barbecued stingray, and chili crab.

After mentioning the main course, you will surely love to enjoy some of the delicious and favorite deserts that are served on plate to enrich your taste buds. I am sure you will not miss to enjoy the Pandan Chiffon Cake, Pineapple tarts or the Yam and Sweet Potato or the potato cubes in the coconut milk or Mango pudding. You can also have stimulating red bean soup, honeydew melon cubes in Coconut milk or Cheng Tng.

Alcohol

Prices are an entity which varies from place to place. At SGD$6 you can enjoy a large beer at any of the coffee shop or hawker center. But if you are willing to visit a fancy restaurant the price of the basic drink will range in between SGD$10-15 while even fancier cocktails would usually be in the SGD$15-25 range. You can also enjoy the privileges of happy hours. Five star hotels charge SGD$20-50 for alcohol. However the most popular drinks in Singapore are “Singapore sling” (SG$ 25.90), “Martini”(SG$11), “Pina Colada”(SG$14.50),”Daiquiri”(SG$15) & “Beer”.

Restaurants

Singapore is a place where you will find restaurants in a huge number which offer variety as well as hospitality which are available at different ranges of budgets.

As Chinese is the majority of the population found in Singapore, there is an abundance of Chinese restaurants in Singapore. Prices greatly depend on what you order and where you order in Singapore city. $20-30 are the prices per person in ordinary restaurants, on the other hand in five-star hotels prices can go as higher than $300 per person. If affordability is your criteria then Orchard Road is the place to be as prices here range between $10-20 per person for the main course. On the same criteria you can also visit Thai and Indonesian restaurants where prices will be looking at $20-30 per head. However we have to Note that hours may be very limited: as in the famous hotels like Raffles Hotel's Tiffin Room etc the availability of three meals is in accordance with the time. For example the timings for lunch will be between 3:30 PM and 5 PM.

Lunch and dinner buffets are also available in many hotels. But the most popular are the Champagne brunches on Sundays, hold on with great champagne comes great pricing as you got to pay $100 per head for it. Some of the most popular restaurants in Singapore city are Mezza9 at the Hyatt on Orchard, Shinji By Kanesaka, Restaurant Andre, Nakku Ghin, Iggy’s(at Orchard), Osteria Mozza & Latelier de Joel Robuchon.

However to sum up, a trip to Singapore is definitely easy on pocket and highly refreshing. As rightly said by most of the people been there,”Once experienced the magic of Singapore its spell lasts for a lifetime”.
