River Safari, the First of Its Kind and the Only River-Themed Wildlife Park in Asia

River Safari is the latest addition to Wildlife Reserves Singapore’s attractions to drive tourists from around the world. This fascinating park is located between Singapore’s two flamboyant wildlife parks, namely Singapore Zoo and Night Safari. River Safari provides a lifetime experience to the visitors of this park.
This exuberant park includes state-of-the-art exhibit design, Southeast Asia's largest panda exhibit as well as the world's largest freshwater aquarium. Other attractions of the park are the world’s largest collections of freshwater fauna and more than 5,000 animals involving 42 endangered species. These include Singapore’s giant pandas, Kai Kai and Jia Jia.

You can stroll around the park enjoying the striking exhibitions or even try the river adventure of the Mississippi, Congo, Nile, Ganges, Murray, Mekong and Yangtze rivers. River Safari is also abode to the Giant Panda Forest, Squirrel Monkey Forest and the captivating Amazon Flooded Forest.

While wandering along the Mississippi River, you can catch a rare sight of the natives living in the region and as you travel down to the Congo River, you may get to witness the world's largest freshwater puffer fish.

As you travel further down to the river Nile, you will spot the sharp-toothed tiger fish and many other aquatic species. As you reach the Ganges River, be careful of the crocodilian Indian gharial lying by the sandy shore. You may even get a chance to see the unusual looking soft-shell turtle and the goonch catfish at his place. While traveling south of the Pacific Ocean towards Australia’s Murray River, you will get to see the Australian lungfish, the robber crab, and the Murray cod, which is Australia’s largest freshwater fish and can grow up to 1.8 meters in length.

The Mekong River is the world’s largest freshwater aquariums, which is home to the splendid Mekong catfish and the giant freshwater stingray.

Your next destination will be the Yangtze River, which houses the world’s largest amphibian, the giant salamander. Close to this river is the Giant Panda Forest, which is inhabited by Kai Kai and Jia Jia. Enjoy these species at their natural environment. You can also watch the golden pheasants and red pandas at this forest.

A river expedition is not complete without getting to the Amazon River. Over here, opt for the Amazon River Quest and it will lead you to the baffling South American river and explore the stunning wild life around the world’s largest tropical rainforest. Here, you will spot the amazing spider monkey, maned wolf, Brazilian tapir and much more. Squirrel Monkey Forest is located close to this river. These squirrel monkeys are short-furred and cute and they are considered to have high intelligence that lives jointly in social groups.

The Amazon Flooded Forest is another place to visit in this river safari. Here, you will get to witness the fascinating marine life including the arapaima and the giant river otter.

After completion of the tour, you can treat yourself on the fabulous restaurants. Try the delicious dishes at the River Safari Tea House, placed at the Entrance Plaza, or have some scrumptious Szechuan cuisine and panda-themed dishes at the Mama Panda Kitchen, located close to the Giant Panda Forest.
